Lila and Soha's Singing Tips

Lila and Soha's Stage Fright Helpers

I know singing in front of people may be scary, but today, I’ll help you conquer your fears. This might sound weird, but one way that helped me get rid of my stage fright was singing in front of people! Once you do it, you realize it’s not that bad. Try singing in front of a close friend or family member. Then sing in front of just a friend. Then maybe you can sing in front of a couple friends. Work your way up to a whole audience. When you’re ready, you’ll be able to sing in front of anyone! If you are too scared to try this, maybe you can ask your audience to turn around or not look at you. A lot of people get nervous when people are looking at them. Another idea is to record yourself singing. Send or show the recording to family members. Then once they give you feedback, you may feel a bit more confident in your work. Slowly work your way to more people until you are ready for a full audience. I hope this helps! -January 20, 2018

Lila and Soha's Audition Tips

Ever wanted to be in a musical or chorus but the audition made you reconsider? A lot of people face this problem. Check my Lila and Soha's Stage Fright Helpers and Lila and Soha's Singing tips for some ideas. Some other ideas are to pretend like no one’s watching. Just sing your heart out! When I start singing, I forget all about the judges watching me and just sing.v Closing your eyes may also work for some people. I hope this helps you with your troubles!

Vocal Warm Ups

  • Sing ya ya ya, each time going either a note higher or lower. Start at your lowest/highest note. You can change the word ya to another 1 syllable word that end in the sound ah if you want! (Blah, la, etc.) Stop when you've reached your lowest/highest note.
  • Sing ha, ha, ha, ha, hahahahaha going a note higher or lower each time. You can also sing oo, oo, oo, oo, oooooooooo. You can do both if you want! Start at your lowest/highest note. Go as high/low you can go.
  • Sing 8,7,6,5,4,3,2,1 high, but not to high while shaking your left hand in the air. Now do the same thing while singing lower and shaking your right foot. Now do the same thing you did with your left hand, but do it with your right hand. Now do the same thing with your left foot that you did with your right foot. Repeat this, but go one number lower each time. (7,6,5,4,3,2,1 then 6,5,4,3,2,1 then 5,4,3,2,1 and so on until you finish singing 1.)
  • Try singing do, re, mi, fa, so, la, ti, do. Keep practicing this until you get it in a perfect pitch. If you want, after you finish singing the high do, sing the same thing, but from the high do to the low do.
